Glowsticks on film

You've seen them on YouTube and Flickr -- the great glow stick photos and videos. You can make them yourself, too! All you need is a dark room, a tripod, and a camera with slow shutter speed. The slow shutter speed lets your camera catch the movement of the glow sticks in a single photograph. Look for "night mode" if you don't have settings for shutter speed, and be sure to turn off the flash.

Dress in dark clothing if you plan to be in the picture, set your camera on a tripod or a flat surface to keep it still, and get filming!

Glow sticks for animals?

Glow sticks are appealing to animals, and you can safely put a glow necklace on your pet or attach a glow stick to your dog's collar. However, the chemicals in glow sticks aren't meant to be eaten, so glow sticks shouldn't be used as chew toys or thrown for dogs to fetch.
