Getting the longest glow
Our glow sticks glow for 6-8 hours after activation. That's long enough for most parties, proms, fairs, and carnivals. But what about that all-night dance party or rave, or decorative uses?
You can get a longer glow by keeping your glowsticks cold for a while before use. Put them into the refrigerator for the longest lasting light. However, cold glowsticks burn less brightly. It's a tradeoff: warm glow sticks burn brighter for a shorter time, and cold ones burn more dimly but for a longer time.
Capturing glowsticks on film
One of the fun things to do with glowsticks is to photograph or film them. You can arrange activated glowsticks on a dark background in interesting patterns to create artistic effects. You can also use a slow shutter speed and move them to create interesting traces and blurs. Dress your model in dark clothes and attach light sticks, glow bracelets, and glow necklaces to various parts of the body to capture interesting effects from movement. The key to fancy effects is keeping everything dark so nothing bu the glowsticks show, keeping the camera steady to get the clearest image, and keeping the shutter open long enough to catch movement.
